A week ago I had the privilege of shooting an engagement session for Benjamin Carlson and Alexandra Jones. I have formally known Alex for a year-and-a-half since she started attending the same college as I do. Ben and I have been close friends for over a decade. So when I was offered the opportunity, I jumped at the chance. These two people have always made a great couple, and while cliché, they have never looked better together than they did during the shoot.
The location was a spot near Alex’s family in the country. It was a Christmas tree farm, now out of season, and provided a number of interesting environments. Despite a bit of trouble with sneaking onto the location, it came off with relatively few hiccups. The only real issue we had was with my father’s 35mm Pentax K1000. I brought it for my friend and Ben’s brother, Aaron, who is also an amateur photographer. We put two rolls of film through it and both of them either ripped or broke.
Still, the photos that we did manage to get came out very well (in my humble opinion), and, I hope, this is not the last time that pictures of this fine couple appear here. I wish them all the best now and in the years to come.
